USER SERVICES CONSULTANT (LAW) Willamette University Integrated Technology Services PRIMARY PURPOSE The User Services Consultant is responsible for providing support and assistance to technology users in the Law School as well as serving as a primary Help Desk consultant. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The duties and responsibilities of the User Services Consultant include, but are not limited to, the following functions which are not listed in any particular order of significance: 1. Coordinates technology support for the Law School including, but not limited to network services, application software, microcomputers, administrative information systems, and audiovisual equipment, contacting appropriate WITS staff as necessary. 2. Assists Law School faculty, staff and students experiencing problems with technology equipment, use of information resources and software. 3. Assists faculty with integration of technology into the curriculum. 4. Serves as a member of the WITS User Services group which oversees and performs activities that are pertinent to supporting users, such as consulting, conducting training sessions and preparing and disseminating information (e.g. documentation, handouts, newsletters, web pages). 5. Shows initiative in pursuing information regarding leading edge technologies as they relate to legal education and research and communicates this information to faculty, staff and students as appropriate.. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: 1. Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. A bachelor?s degree or two-year college degree plus four years experience in a relevant field is preferred 2. Minimum of two years experience in supporting users in a networked computing environment. 3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in consulting with users on various software, hardware and network problem; operation of microcomputer equipment and other peripheral devices; use of various application software; use of the Internet, including e-mail and Web 4. Proven ability to make technical issues understandable, patience and ability to make users comfortable working with technology, and an ability to match technical opportunities to university goals. 5. Preferred skills include experience in information technology in higher education, experience in development of instructional materials and relevant experience beyond the minimum requirement.
